1st July – Diving gannets

Came across lots of diving gannets, then lots of Puffins, then two pods of dolphins.

30th June Playful common dolphins

Good trip this morning, plenty of birds life, puffins, diving gannets and some very playful common dolphins.  On the afternoon trip more dolphins, a storm Petrel, plenty of Puffins and Shearwaters.

29th June offshore looking for dolphins

Lovely day again. Ocean Ranger jet boat seen a couple of medium pods of dolphins so far this morning.  The gannets on Grassholm Island as usual, very spectacular sight.

28th June RSPB Islands Adventure trip

Ocean Ranger  was on an ‘RSPB Islands Adventure’ boat trip in the morning escorted by an RSPB warden.  First they headed out to Grassholm Island for 2 hours to look at the 39,000 pairs of breeding gannets, very spectacular as always but an added bonus of seeing two pods of common dolphins.  Also saw a variety of seabirds, puffins, shearwaters, guillimots, razorbills and seals, then they headed to Ramsey Island for lunch and a walk around the island for the afternoon.

27th June – evening whale and dolphin watching trip

The sea conditions improved and a small pod of dolphins were spotted about 20 minutes into the trip, about 7 porpoise on the way back.

27th June – Whale and Dolphin trip

Two pods of common dolphins, about 10 to 15 in each pod just after the boat left Grassholm Island, they didn’t stay around to play for long so the boat headed off for the Smalls Lightouse and the South Bishops Lighthouse as there were people on the boat interested in these.   Between the two Lighthouses they saw another small pod of dolphins and lots of Shearwaters.

26th June – Offshore trip

Plenty of Gannets in the air, it looked very spectacular.   Diving gannets offshore around the Small Lighthouse and lots of Atlantic Grey Seals, lots of Shearwaters and Puffins on the water.  The photograph was taken by Lyndon Lomax, wildife guide and photographer while on a previous trip.  They saw 3 Storm Petrels.

24th June

A good sunny trip, they got some lovely photographs of a pod of about 30 dolphins and a family group of harbour porpoise, they also saw a Storm Petrel

22nd June Whale and Dolphin trip

Best viewing of dolphins yet.  50+ competing with the boat, dolphins jumping around within feet of the boat.  One dolphin in particular kept trying to jump higher than the boat, the boat was also surrounded by diving gannets.
