The RSPB wardens and helpers headed off to Grassholm Island yesterday to free the last of the entangled gannets, gannet season now finished for another year.

” Sarah Padmor – Yesterday we went to Grassholm island where 36,000 pairs of gannets nested this year. Sadly some chicks become trapped on the nest by plastic/fishing line that the adults have brought in from the sea thinking it’s seaweed. A real mixture of emotions as we were too late for some, but such a worthwhile thing to do when they are freed and can fly away. ”
