Join us on our spectacular boat trip to Skomer Island

where we go in search of Puffins and Seabirds. A mixture of exhilaration with a sensitive appreciation of the local wildlife.

We navigate from Ramsey Sound, across St Brides Bay and down to Skomer Island, in search of the thousands of brightly beaked Puffins. Keep your eyes open, you may see diving gannets, shearwaters and if you are lucky some dolphins.

Puffins can be spotted around Skomer Island from April to the end of July. By mid April the Puffins have settled on Skomer and have started building their nests.

42,000 puffins were recorded on Skomer Island during 2023, which is a 10% increase from the number recorded in the previous year.

From June to mid July the Puffins fly to and from their nests, taking fish to their young. By the first week in August they have normally left the island, not returning again until next spring.

Once arriving at Skomer Island you will find yourself amongst hundreds of Puffins in the bay. These comical Puffins can also be spotted by looking up at the cliffs and grassy banks, where they are often found preparing their burrows.

Our Skomer Island voyage also allows the opportunity to see various seabirds such as Guillemots, Razorbills, Gannets, with Atlantic Grey Seals and porpoise also regularly spotted.

Occasionally we come across Pods of Common Dolphin, whilst navigating across St Brides bay, between Ramsey Island and Skomer Island.

The trips down to Skomer Island, will be run on our Blue Shark Vessel, a more traditional style boat, the perfect vessel for wildlife watching, offering a platform to move about and capture photos of these comical auks bobbing around in the ocean.
