where you will encounter thousands of gannets, Britain’s largest and most majestic seabird.
As we head out towards Grassholm Island, and offshore to the reefs and edges of the Celtic Deep, we come across thousands of Gannets, Britain’s largest seabird. As we continue our journey out towards the celtic deep we begin our search for Porpoise, Whales and Dolphins.
At Grassholm Island, home of the Gannet colony, you will be immersed by the thousands of Gannets circling overhead. Your ears will be filled with the constant squabble of the birds, and your nose will pick up some interesting sents.
We often come across cetaceans whilst offshore. Species such as Harbour porpoise, and Common dolphin which are very curious creatures, will often interact with the boat, along with the mysterious Risso’s dolphin. On rare occasions, species such as Pilot and Minke whale, Orca, Sei and Fin whale, Sunfish, Basking shark, and Leatherback turtle are sighted in our waters. Last year we even spotted a Humpback whale, a first for Pembrokeshire!
The Celtic Deep is an essential area of ocean frontal activity, with large aggregations of copepods recorded. It is these tiny plankton in the nutrient-rich waters that make it such a good foraging ground for both marine mammals and birds.
If conditions allow and depending on sightings, we may even venture out as far as the Smalls Lighthouse, the most remote of Britain’s lighthouses, which is steeped in history.

For our Offshore voyage, please ensure that you wear suitable clothing. Warm, waterproof clothing is recommended as conditions are more changeable offshore, and are far cooler. The skipper may refuse boarding if you are not suitably dressed.
Our offshore trip has a minimum age requirement of 8 years old. Due to the extended length of the trip, and due to the fact we may be 20 miles offshore, then this trip would not be suitable for anyone under this age.
Full refunds are offered provided you contact us at least a full 24hrs before departure. We will also fully refund if a voyage is cancelled by us. Our boats sail if the skipper considers it safe to do so. It is their decision as they are responsible for your safety at sea. Wind and swell is the main reason we will cancel a tour, we do not cancel for rain. Please see our full Terms & conditions.
Sadly, we do not allow dogs on our longer offshore trips. But they are more than welcome to join our shorter voyages.
From St David’s, you head down Goat Street, past the Farmers Arms pub. Continue on down Pit Street, past the lower car park at the back of the Bishop’s Palace. Keep going on this road until you reach St Justinians, where there is both free parking and a paid field, which is £4. The journey is approximately 2 miles. St Justinians is where the current Lifeboat station is and also the site of the old lifeboat station which is the embarkation point for the boat.
